Rick Willianen

Rick Willianen is a Senior Manager of Contracts and Purchasing for Mattamy Homes who works in the Edmonton area. At an early age Rick developed a passion for the outdoors and would spend countless hours playing hockey on the frozen rinks near his childhood home of Thunder bay, Ontario. His love for the outdoors led him to study Forestry at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario in the early 90’s. As well as the schooling, he also competed on the men’s OCAA hockey team.

Using his education and training, coupled with the fondness for the outdoors, Rick worked in the new home construction and management positions in various locations in Canada before settling in Alberta in 1998.

In 2016, Rick relocated to Ontario where he currently works as the Contracts and Purchasing Manger at Vaughn, Ontario'sMattamy Homes. Some of Rick's duties include:Controlling, and producing budgets for internal departments,analyzing tenders, and price negotiations.

Before moving to Ontario, Rick was the Estimating Manager at Homes By Avi, a home building company with more than 30 years of experience building homes in Alberta. The Edmonton operation builds around 300 houses a year and also has offices in Calgary, Alberta and Austin, Texas.

Rick worked with the Alberta-based company for a decade where he managed a team of five Estimators who managed construction cost control for the company. The department also issued all the required po’s and variances to suppliers.

In his leisure time, Rick Willianen enjoys travelling to his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario to visit both family & friends. He also enjoys playing hockey recreationally and watching his beloved Chicago Blackhawks.

As an outdoorsman, Rick is an avid cross country skier who competes at various Nordic loppets throughout the winter. In the summertime Rick can be found on the golf course or enjoying tennis, gardening & mountain biking.
