Ricky Zambrano
Springfield, VA
My name is Ricky Zambrano. I was born in Alexandria, Virginia. I have now lived in Northern Virginia for eleven years. I started playing baseball at the age of 5. My parents wanted me to play a sport when I was little, so they decided that I play soccer, which clearly did not work out. So one day my mom decided to put me into T-ball for the Babe Ruth League back in Alexandria. I fell in love with the sport instantly, and decided to continue until this day playing college ball at Shenandoah University. Playing baseball actually helped me through my childhood and high school to get to where I am now. Every time I knew I had a game as a kid, I just wanted to go out and play like all the other kids. Playing a baseball game gives me a rush that I can't put in words, the adrenaline I receive before a game puts me in a mood where you can't take me. Aside from that, I play my games for my mom, with all the things she has done for me, from the age of 3 until now she has been my role model and my motivation. As my mom being a single parent, she strived to put my brother Junior and I in a good learning environment and to put us in a good neighborhood to be safe. A perfect example of baseball helping me in high school started my freshmen year. I decided not to play baseball my first year of high school just because I thought I was to cool for it at first. Then, my grades started to fall terribly and I ended up finishing my freshmen year with a 2.1 GPA. My sophomore year through my senior year my grades went up dramatically because I started to play baseball, which kept me in track with my grades in class. I am now a Freshman on my way on getting a college degree in Kinesiology and playing my favorite hobby in the world at the college level. My future career plans are to become an athletic trainer.
