I joined the Stetson Athletics staff in October of 2011 after having spent the previous eight years at Troy University. Other stops across the college athletics landscape have been at Marshall University, Alabama A&M University and the University of Southern Mississippi.
I attended the University of Alabama and received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications in 1988. After several years in print media, I went on to earn a Master's in Sport Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1994.
Prior to embarking on a career in college athletics, I was fortunate enough to win more than 50 awards for writing and page design while in print media.
I have also had the good fortune to work with several successful programs. While at Southern Miss the Golden Eagles appeared in a pair of bowl games and won Conference USA titles in football and baseball. Several players from those teams went on to successful careers in either the NFL or MLB.
From there, it was on to Huntington, WV, where I served as Assistant AD for Media Relations at Marshall. Over four years there were four bowl appearances, three MAC titles and two very successful Heisman campaigns. I was able to accompany Chad Pennington to New York for the Heisman ceremony, and Byron Leftwich for the NFL Draft.
I left Marshall in 2003 to be closer to family and spent one year at Alabama A&M University before moving on to Troy University in 2004.
During my time at Troy, I continued to have great fortune, working with five consecutive Sun Belt title football team and two league champion baseball squads. Wins over Missouri and Oklahoma State were made possible by having players like DeMarcus Ware, Leodis McKelvin, Sherrod Martin and Jerrel Jernigan, among many others, who went on the the NFL.
The most important thing to know about me is that I have been married to the same beautiful women for 21 years and I recognize fully that my wife, Joan, has all of the talent in the family. She is a novalist, a singer, a teacher and has worked as an athletics ticket manager.
Without her, none of the other things would matter.
