Ricky Jobes

In 1993, when voters elected Ricky Jobes to the position of Alderman of Ward 5 in Southaven, the third-largest city in Mississippi, its population stood at 9,000. Today, the town boasts a populace of more than 48,000. In the years since he accepted the post, the Alderman has aided in interviewing and hiring all of the town’s 300 employees and played an active role in the city’s success. In excellent financial shape for the foreseeable future, Southaven holds a stellar AAA bond rating and earned recognition as a National Retirement City under the watch of Ricky Jobes and his fellow Aldermen. As part of his duties, Ricky Jobes studies and approves a $70 million annual budget and meets bi-weekly with department heads, including representatives of the Police and Fire Departments, for updates and overviews. He also congregates with the Board of Aldermen on the first and third Tuesdays monthly to discuss city business and make pertinent decisions. In addition to his civic obligations, Mr. Jobes serves as a Territory Manager in pharmaceutical sales and has won regional and national awards in medical sales. A former state board member of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Mr. Jobes also acted as a local FEMA board member and sat on the Board of Directors of The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science for six years. He served on a national environment and conservation board as well. Ricky Jobes holds memberships in the Republican Party, the Library Council, and the Southaven Chamber of Commerce. A thespian and all-state and all-American baseball player in college, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science.
