Riese Bernard

Marie Lyn Bernard // Riese is a freelance journalist, award-winning writer, blogger, fictionist, copywriter, video-maker and aspiring cyber-performance artist who grew up in Michigan, got wise in New York City, and now lives in the San Francisco area.

She is the co-founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Autostraddle.com, the world's most popular independently-owned lesbian website, winner of the 2012 Bloggie Award for Weblog of the Year.

Her writing has appeared in nine books, magazines including Marie Claire, GO, Curve, Interlude, NeXt, and CollegeBound, and all over the web including Nerve.com, Jezebel and OurChart (RIP). Her personal blog, Autowin, has earned many dubious honors including Best Personal Blog 2008.

She was the host of Showtime's obnoxiously popular webseries "Lezberado" and has edited videos for Wingspan Productions, Broadway World and "In Your Box Office With Julie Goldman & Brandy Howard." She also produced/edited/starred-in the legendary "Haviland & Riese Vlogs," which are still totally golden.

Riese has spoken about blogging, community-building, feminism, cyberculture and sexuality at places like BlogHer 2011, Yale, New York University, The University of Chicago and The Museum of Sex.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Interlochen Arts Academy and The Olive Garden's week-long training intensive; she enjoys eating foods, having big ideas, reading books & talking to her stuffed dog, Tinkerbell.
