Due to the cool spring weather we experience last year, most of the fisheries didn’t take hold until a fortnight later than their normal cycle. As an example, the striped bass fishing didn’t begin until the primary week of June. The fluke was also a touch late to arrive in appreciable numbers. By springtime, if the water is warmer than anticipated, I'll target the stripers and fluke by May 20th. To my surprise, the sharks arrived by the second week of June last year, albeit the water temperatures were 5 degrees below normal. Upon the arrival of summer, the stripers, bluefish, fluke and sea bass provided our anglers with many actions.

The offshore fishing for cod and sharks was also quite productive. We didn’t crush the cod but most anglers brought home between 3 and 6 cod with the larger fish tipping the size at 15 lbs. The cod bite was on during the months of July and August. The blue and mako sharks were the foremost common species caught. Most groups caught between 2 to six sharks/trip. Again i might wish to remind our return customers also as our first timers that we practice a “No Kill” policy on all sharks. With the decline in shark populations everywhere the planet, I don't prefer to be a willing participant within the extinction of sharks. we've now tagged 2538 sharks for research. For those that would really like to hitch us on a satellite tagging expedition.

Throughout the summer months we did our justifiable share of fluke and sea bass fishing. Kids particularly enjoy catching these beauties that run between 2 and 4 lbs. For those that don't want to spend the entire day on the ocean, a fluke and sea bass trip could also be just what you're trying to find. These trips are offered from 4, 5, and 6 hr. duration while staying within 3 miles from land.

The fall fishing for stripers, bluefish, porgies, and sea bass made for a few exciting fishing. When the water temperature began to drop by October, we caught more porgies and sea bass. Some excellent news for the ocean bass fisherman is that there'll be no mid season closure on the ocean bass. After the 15th of October we began pursuing the blackfish. If we didn’t fill the quota, we came close on most of our trips. Having to go home early a couple of trips thanks to strong winds was the sole reason for a slow day of fishing. and that we did experience a couple of windy days!
