I decided upon the idea of Hickory Ridge Vermont as a way for people to see and experience the state I love in a relaxing and beautiful way. The cabins I build are a synthesis of 30 years of experience in the carpentry, stone masonry and art trades. I wanted to create an environment inwhich the visitor can see the direct connection between their lives and the nature around them. The building materials I use are often recycled or repurposed, or from my land or at the very least, local to the area.
I hope to begin a dialoge with the people that visit that has them first question the complexity of their lives and second to realise how things of great beauty and function can be had for little money, and that since we are bound to leave foot prints in our lives, they can atleast be thoughtful and respectful signs of our presence.
