RISEBA University of Applied Sciences is a private university with more than 30 years of experience, which offers competitive education and prepares high-level specialists and managers in business and creative industries for work in an international environment. The university was founded in 1992. The main building of the university is located in Riga.
RISEBA University for students who wish to engage in university activities outside of their studies are invited to join the RISEBA Eco Council– it is a hub for RISEBA students interested in ecological sustainability, resource conservation, climate change and appreciation of the natural world.
RISEBA Eco Council is mostly student-led. It consists of representatives from each university faculty who also perform eco-monitoring, they form and chair an eco-committee.
The Eco Committee communicates through the programme represented by each Eco activist. Eco activists work with students of the programs they represent.
The Eco Council is working to establish the Green Action Plan (Green Action Plan) for the 2022/2023. study year, which will help improve the environment both at RISEBA University and in society at large.
Together with partner teams from 7 European countries, RISEBA implementsNaturally Sustainable project.
The Naturally Sustainable project aims to carry out research and reporting of good practices in the sustainability field in European (PIA) schools, to develop guidelines on innovative learning methods, activities for the systematic involvement of staff and students, and to create a platform for sharing experience and contributing overall to environmental and climate change measures within and outside the EU.
Educational institutions are undeniably considered to be one of the most influential elements in the implementation of sustainability and sustainable development concepts in society, and their decisions have an impact on the economic, social and environmental dimensions of communities and their regions.
