In high school I worked at the Publix grocery store as a bagger and then as a cashier. I started in the middle of Covid and I think that while there I learned how to deal with people because I worked in customer service and basically had to talk to people and interact with people, some easier than others. I got to know all my coworkers pretty well and was able to get to know them personally. They would even happily want to take over a shift for me if I was ever not able to make it for my shift. Over time it became easier for me to talk to people I didn’t know because I was able to be in such a position. It was a great work experience for my first job, it helps you develop the ability to talk to people that you don’t know and come up with some small talk. It also helped me develop a sense of responsibility due to me working early morning shifts and even, on occasion, late night shifts. I was able to work at Publix for a little over two years and I can confidently say I had a good working experience even though there were some good days and there were some bad days I was able to manage through it.
