R.J. Tesfa
R.J. TESFA: Jamaican born, migrated to the United States in the early seventies. A graduate of Evander Childs High in the Bronx, N.Y., he later attended New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice before enlisting in the Air Force. A man of many talents, he has acted on Broadway in the musical 'REGGAE', alongside Phillip-Michael Thomas(Miami Vice), Sheryl- Lee Ralph, Obba Babatumbe, and in off-Broadway productions with the late Roxie Rocker(The Jeffersons), and Gary Duggan-(CSI), plus NBC's 'Law & Order' television series. He is also an author of the self-published book 'The Living Testament Of Rasta-For-I' and a poet/playwright. His famed 'RASTA' poem bears the original artwork from which Bob Marley's iconic 'Uprising' image was later adapted, and his play, 'RASTA' won the 1996 AUDELCO award for outstanding production. As a singer/songwriter, he has two albums to his credit-'The Voice Of The Rastaman 1, released on Shanachie Record's Meadowlark label and 'The Voice Of The Rastaman 2 on his own Inlight label. A true Renaissance Man, R.J. Tesfa has truly established his name in various fields within the arts and is now looking to tour with his latest work. The story of a young Caribbean immigrant to the U.S. and his journey towards self-fulfillment, a one man production delightfully woven with comedy, drama, poetry and songs, entitled 'World Citizen', an appropriate title for the now practicing Buddhist.
