I have taught art for the past 29 years in grades K-12. My hearing loss was first diagnosed in the third grade. I have what is called a cookie bit hearing loss. This means I miss most of the sounds coming from conversation. As I got older my audiogram slowly flattened out. I didn't get hearing aids til I was about 34 years old. I really needed them way before then but my parents were not very agressive about addressing this problem. I now have bi-lateral cochlear implants. This has been the best choice I ever made and has made my job much easier.
