Royce K. Zackery

Completed his Masters at N.Y.U. Steinhardt/American Ballet Theater in Higher Education: Department of Music, Performing Arts Professions and Pedagogical Studies. He received his B.F.A from Southern Methodist University. Royce is also certified in the American Ballet Theatre National Teaching Curriculum with a concentrated methodological degree in Ballet Pedagogy: Anatomical Physical Performance and Measures of Injury Prevention.
Royce has worked as a professional dancer for over 16 years. Within his career, he has worked professionally with over 30 companies and a master teacher for over 13 years. Mr. Zackery's performing experience ranges from Broadway shows such as My One And Only (Lead Rhythm Boy: Tap Dancer, Vocals Tenor 2 and Bass), Oklahoma! (Featured Dancer, Dream Judd: Vocals Tenor 2 and Bass), and Anything Goes(Company Dancer: Vocals tenor 2 and Bass) to Classical Ballet Company’s and Contemporary Company’s such as Rebecca Kelly Ballet Theater, Rioult Dance Theater, Ajkun Ballet Theater, Thomas/Ortiz Dance, Staten Island Ballet, and Urban Dance Collective to name a few. Mr. Zackery has choreography, teaching, coaching, rehearsal directing, and Artistic Directing experience crossing all levels of dance and idioms from beginner to professional for over 13 years. This includes professional companies, universities, pre-professional programs, academies, public schools, and festivals across the U.S. and abroad.
His teachings include master classes, workshops, and residences held in classical/contemporary ballet, contemporary movement, jazz, tap, partnering (classical/contemporary), and my own repertory works in Germany, Russia, New York, Mexico, Dallas, Florida, Oklahoma City, and Atlanta Georgia. He has been on faculty of several professional/pre-professional training facilities such as Broadway Dance Center, the Alvin Ailey Extension Program, and the School at Steps on Broadway. Mr. Zackery's choreographic works have been featured in several international festivals, gala performances, universities, and governmental functions in Germany, Russia, Mexico, New York City, and many other cities across the U.S. He has received choreographic notoriety of his work through New York Premieres Commissioned by Dixon Place Theater, Irondale Theater, Hofstra University, Ajkun Ballet Theater, and Staten Island Ballet. My teaching philosophy is to enrich the students' cognitive development. The classes I instruct thrive on musicality, hand-eye coordin
