Seattle Washington
I was born in Cleveland but am as far removed from that place as my husband is removed from his home country of Austria; we both have terrible crushes on Seattle though she clearly likes me more. It took me more than 25 years to figure out what to do when I grew up, and now that I'm grown-up, I can see that I was doing it all along. I make a mean goulash, a meaner borscht, and sweet, fabulous children. I also speak passable German with an impeccable accent. I fell in love with my husband because he brought out the best in me and because, frankly, he has good taste in movies. Like my children, he is a complicated little cat. I, myself, am simple and uncomplicated. We live in an ugly little house which we love, and our children attend a very good public school in a terribly ugly building, which we adore. Our friends are incredibly beautiful, talented, loving people and I tell my children this all the time: that life is very good, filled with good and wonderful people
