These are the eyes through which I write: Jesus Christ is God. He is perfect. We on the other hand are imperfect, sinful, people living under a law that demands perfection (Romans 3: 23) (Matthew 5:17-20). Thus, we deserve death, separation from God, Hell. From birth this is what we have, a hideous dark cavern separating us from God (Psalm 51:5). Any attempt to fix this, any gracious or godly act done to “become right with God” is worthless in his sight (Isaiah 64:6). God loves us (Romans 5: 8). More than we can ever imagine. Thus, he came in the flesh, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life and become the sacrifice for our own imperfection (Romans 8: 3). Faith in this truth leads to repentance, or a turning away from our sin, a hatred of our own sin, our own pride, our own lust, our own hatred of others. Thus, without repentance there is no faith and without faith there is no salvation (James 2:17). But with this salvation, there is no ounce of hatred towards you and I (Romans 8:1). There is unconditional love, no condemnation, for anything! And you know that makes me want to do? Follow Jesus and every word he commands. Every. Single. Word, the entire Bible, because they are all straight from the mouth of God (2 Timothy 3:16). God’s goal in all of this: his own glory, his own praise. Of which he is most worthy (Psalm 48:1, 96: 4, 145: 3).
