I am a 29-year-old journalist with five years of experience in both news writing and feature writing. I especially enjoy writing and reporting across various mediums, including print, television, and online social media.
First few years
I spent my first two years at a Syrian-owned newspaper catering to the Filipino community in the region. I covered various Filipino events and news, among other topics concerning the community. There, my passion for writing ignited, thanks to my editor-in-chief, who was excellent in his craft.
The city with a vibe
After a short stint as a journalist, I explored more job opportunities in Dubai and became a content creator for The City Vibes. Here, I focused on writing stories for a diverse audience, including not only Filipinos but all nationalities in the UAE. The platform has become a hub of information for both expats and citizens.
Direct to my goal
After finishing my employment contract, I sought to explore more opportunities. I continued as a content creator, this time for Direct Clicks Marketing. There, I produced content for major airline companies, hotels, leading restaurants, and travel agencies for their social media pages. I also managed at least 30 social media pages for a major hospital in the UAE.
Going global
When the pandemic hit and opportunities dwindled, a Filipino entrepreneur asked me to spearhead a publication catering to Filipinos in the UAE. Starting from scratch with zero social media followers, no magazine print issue, and no guidelines to follow, I relied on my creativity and resourcefulness. Drawing on my previous experiences, I successfully launched The Global Filipino Magazine, which is now one of the most followed Filipino pages in the UAE and a reliable source for both Filipino and international news.
