SMART ROADSTER
"Simplify, then add lightness" is a famous quote attributed to Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus Cars. A weight of only 765kg makes the Smart Roadster one of the most power efficient sports cars, and one of the last ones weighing under a tonne.
44% of the car's weight sits on the front axle and 56% on the rear axle. This, combined with a rear mid-engine setup, rear wheel drive, and pure steering makes the Smart Roadster perfect for a fun drive. Gordon Murray, designer of Formula One racing cars, used a Smart Roadster as his daily driver for sixteen years.
Maximum fun per litre
The Smart Roadster produces 82ps/60kw from a 0,7ltr turbocharged intercooled three cilinder inline engine with two valves per cilinder. It goes from 0-100km/h in under 10 seconds. The Smart Roadster's footprint is nothing bigger than necessary (343x162x119cm), making it perfectly agile for winding country roads. Petrol consumption of only 5ltr/100km guarantees maximum fun per litre.
Production
Mercedes-Benz produced the Smart Roadster between 2003-2005 in Hambach, France. Only 43000 Smart Roadsters were produced. This makes the car becoming more and more rare to find, and currently pretty stable in value.
Champagne
This particular champagne coloured Smart Roadster notchback was produced in 2003. The car has been under Dutch ownership ever since. It's currently mostly being driven on the country roads in the region of Twente by it's owner Aryo.
