Rob Dyson
Communicator and charity sector professional in London, United Kingdom
I’ve worked in the UK charity sector for 22 years. I am currently head of PR & communications in a charity fintech.
I’m a founding member and former trustee of CharityComms, the membership network for communications professionals working in UK charities.
In 2007 I founded the Third Sector PR & Communications Network on Facebook – to connect voluntary sector comms, digital specialists and fundraisers to each other. I handed over the baton to this in 2015.
I have blogged for The Guardian, Civil Society, and AskCharity, and have spoken at many a conference, seminar, and tweet-up on the sector’s use of real-time web.
I was proud to be a judge for Aviva's Community Fund Awards 2018, and Third Sector's Awards 2016.
I am a shareholder in the people-owned TV station, Together (formerly The Community Channel).

Forever Synth
I was co-host, co-producer and curator at weekly synthwave music and chat show, 'Forever Synth'. We interviewed music artists from around the world every week. The show went out live on London's Riverside Radio DAB, and was syndicated to several global internet stations for three years. NB. We have just brought the show back (July 2022) after a 10 month haitus, by popular demand.
Visit my Bandcamp page to check out some of the music I like, and some of the artists we played and interviewed.
Future Sounds
FutureSounds is a collaborative project comprising of artists, bloggers, radio hosts, and two record labels - established in late 2021 to help promote and develop the Vaporwave and Synthwave scenes.
I am a staff writer for the online magazine, and a regular voice on monthly podcast, Future Sounds FM.

Whizz-Kidz 2007-2015
As Public Relations Manager – and latterly Head of Comms – at young people’s charity Whizz-Kidz I developed key relationships with journalists and broadcasters to deliver targeted communications to promote the charity’s service delivery, young people’s participation and campaigning. I was also the liaison between the charity and its Patrons. In addition I devised its social media and real-time web strategy.
Scope 2002-2007
During my time as a public relations officer at disability charity Scope, I secured key spots on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, and scored national coverage for some of the organisation’s key campaigns such as disability welfare reform.
