Born in London, England, Robert attended Rugby Boarding School and later studied real estate management and economics in Oxford and London. Before becoming an American citizen, he launched his first company, remodeling and leasing flats in London and Brighton. After moving to the U.S., he developed real estate interests in Iowa, Colorado, Florida, and Minnesota. His family history influenced his career path, as many men in his family were masons who contributed to rebuilding London after World War 2.

Robert’s passion for real estate began early. Traveling to job sites with his grandfather gave him firsthand exposure to the skill of home building. He also gained an appreciation for interiors while working at the family’s Orton Fine Arts and Antiques business. From the age of 14 and throughout university, he worked with commercial property specialists, gaining valuable experience. After relocating to the U.S., he established new connections in Scottsdale, AZ, and New York.

In 2010, Robert launched Orton Homes, specializing in custom and spec home construction. He chose Iowa as headquarters and focused on the Midwest. His work later expanded into Orton Development Company, centered on land development, RT Development, a property holding company, and Nexus, a commercial construction company. He also created Go Rental Team, LLC, which manages homes and multifamily rentals.

His success is tied to his proprietary land development and construction process. He partners with homeowners from lot selection to customization, costs, and financing, ensuring every stage is managed with detail. His commercial projects are also designed with functionality and interiors suited to modern or traditional styles.

He has developed several communities across Iowa, including Ashley Acres, Creekview Estates, Gladbury Park, and Scenic Ridge. These neighborhoods feature ranch-style and two- or three-bedroom homes with gourmet kitchens, fireplaces, spacious bathrooms, and three-car garages. His teams are recognized as specialists in both starter homes and luxury properties.

Robert’s passion for community is evident in his charitable efforts. He has supported homeless shelters, children’s health programs, and services for victims of trauma or violence. Outside of work, Robert is a world traveler and Rugby enthusiast. He played the sport in college and served as captain of an unbeaten team. In his youth, he also played hockey and cricket. Today, he travels with his family to ski in mountain regions worldwide and has spent extended time abroad exploring different cultures and cuisines. At home, he enjoys time with his daughters, visiting theaters and museums, and taking yearly hunting trips.
