Robert Sabes

Robert Sabes, a longtime entrepreneur and business leader, currently devotes much of his time to philanthropic endeavors as the Chairman of the Sabes Family Foundation. Since providing its first donation in the mid-1990s, the Sabes Family Foundation has given millions of dollars to an array of altruistic causes. Much of the money contributed by Robert Sabes and his foundation go to Jewish causes, including the Minneapolis Jewish Community Center, Jewish Studies at the University of Minnesota, and the Jewish Film Festival. In addition, the Sabes Family Foundation has supported community events in the City of Stillwater, the Teen Challenge, the X-Prize Foundation, and a variety of athletic events for teens and children.
Aside from his charitable work, Robert Sabes has spent more than three decades building a successful career in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RW Sabes Enterprises, he is recognized as a pioneer in the industry and personally developed the concepts for innovative new venues such as Minus 5, New Bohemia, and the Freight House. As an industry leader, he has acted as a Director with the Oakridge Country Club, the Minnesota Restaurant Association, and the Greater Minneapolis Hospitality Association.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Robert Sabes attended the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate studies in political science. After earning his Bachelor of Arts, he accepted a position in the Food Service Division of American Fruit & Produce Company, his family's closely held company. He gained valuable experience with the company and subsequently launched his own business, Hospitality Plus, Inc., which managed a variety of restaurant and bar concepts. Prior to his current position, Robert Sabes also co-founded the Gaming Corporation of America, where he served as Chief Executive Officer.
