Robert Ammon

Vermillion, South Dakota, United States

An experienced educator and author, Robert Ammon graduated with a doctorate of education in sport management from the University of Northern Colorado. His dissertation focused on risk- and game-management practices at various municipal football facilities. Currently, Robert Ammon holds a post as associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Science at the University of South Dakota. In addition to his teaching and advisory responsibilities, he has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at professional meetings, and contributed to sports management textbooks.

Prior to joining the University of South Dakota, Dr. Ammon participated in intercollegiate athletics as a coach and administrator. As the business office manager for the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), he was responsible for processing membership applications and collecting fees, as well as managing the organization’s expenses. For his role with NASSM, Robin Ammon, Jr., received the Garth Paton Service Award.

Outside of work, Dr. Ammon enjoys traveling, reading, and staying fit through a regimen of running and weight training.
