I am an infinitely curious person; sometimes I feel like I could take an interest in almost anything…
As per this ingrained curiosity I’ve always pursued a wide-range of interests; specifically, I love learning new things and I’m a firm believer in seeking out new opportunities to exercise this (I’m currently trying to resurrect my French). Eventually, I hope to maintain this throughout my career by pursuing a programme of continuing professional development. I also take a keen interest in current affairs, culture and the arts, as well as travel and domestic tourism.

I am a recent graduate with an MA in Public Relations. I partially saw studying PR as a natural extension to my undergraduate degree, in English Literature, as well as a route to furnishing myself with some vocational knowledge and skills outside of the purely academic. Additionally, however, I also relished the opportunity to study another field informed by a wide range of disciplines.

My proudest achievement during my university education was the completion of my dissertation. I found this process particularly enjoyable due to the freedom students have to investigate something wholly within their personal sphere of interest. My thesis focuses on recognising and understanding the use of stories and storytelling within PR material surround urban regeneration activity. This allowed me to explore and understand the challenges represented by placemaking facing communications professionals. Fundamentally, I see my thesis as informing the debate and discussion surrounding the authenticity or originality impacting upon stories and, by extension, communications material.

After five years’ of study I think I’m truly a stickler for readability and quality of communication. Although I have only had limited exposure to the professional sphere I have reams of real-world experience and, hopefully, compensate for my inexperience by being both enthusiastic and a fast-learner. Ultimately, my ambition is to develop a career in and a knowledge of the communications and media industry with an eye to eventually proving myself as professional copywriter. Currently, I am on a career break and am actively seeking my first graduate position.
