Robert Atcheson

Robert Atcheson has worked for the citizens of the United States for nearly three decades. As a member of the United States Marine Corps, Atcheson served overseas for three years in Latin America and Europe. After living in Brazil from 1985 to 1986, where he worked at the US Embassy in Brasilia, he relocated to Iceland where he worked at the US Embassy in Reykjavik. In both assignments, he worked as a Marine Security Guard (MSG). In 1987, he was honorably discharged from the USMC with the rank of Sergeant.

As a member of the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Robert Atcheson served in several police districts before his current assignment in the Sixth District as Administrative Captain. Atcheson was formerly assigned to the Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF), a multi-jurisdictional task force that operates in the District and surrounding states. As a member and later Lieutenant within the JFTF, he and his fellow law enforcement officers spent the majority of their time searching for high-risk fugitives in the D.C. metropolitan area; he and his team used creative tactics such as electronic tracking devices and fake job offers to lure and apprehend dangerous criminals.

Highly dedicated to his police work, Robert Atcheson also contributes and serves as a campaign organizer for HEROES, Inc. (Honor Every Responsible Officer's Eternal Sacrifice). This fund provides funding for the surviving family members of officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. The organization was established in 1964 by a few D.C.-area businessmen. Robert Atcheson also donates to ChildFund International and volunteers his time with St. Peter’s Church on Capitol Hill. In his free time, he enjoys biking, going to the beach, traveling, and reading about military history and other topics.
