Robert Balzebre

Robert Balzebre is a real estate developer and attorney in the Miami area whose family has been active in southern Florida's real estate business for decades. As a young man, Mr. Balzebre left Florida to attend Connecticut College and then Loyola Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1992 with a special focus on real estate law. After practicing real estate law for several years, Robert Balzebre rejoined the family business and completed a series of increasingly successful development projects around Miami.
Mr. Balzebre is currently the President of Chisholm Properties South Beach, Inc. His most recent project with the company has been the acquisition and renovation of the Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel, a 35 million dollar property in Miami Beach. Mr. Balzebre approached the Surfcomber project with the intention of restoring a historical property while creating a unique hotel experience that would please a discerning clientele. The project has received several awards for its attention to historical detail in the restoration. In the course of the work, Mr. Balzebre forged a partnership with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, a firm known for innovation within the industry.
As an attorney, and as a concerned citizen, Robert Balzebre has taken a personal interest in human rights issues, both in the United States and abroad. He has attended the Oslo Freedom Forum on more than one occasion, and has worked extensively with the Human Rights Foundation to protect the rights of political dissidents around the world. Mr. Balzebre also supports the Innocence Project of New Orleans, which has been instrumental in the release of prisoners who were wrongly convicted of crimes in the U.S. before the development of accurate DNA analysis.
