Robert Cucuel
Possessing extensive experience in health care-related businesses, Robert Cucuel advises on the health care investments of the New York private equity firm Kohlberg & Company, LLC as Healthcare Operating Partner. In addition, Robert Cucuel advises on which new health care service investment opportunities fit the firm's profile for consideration. Robert Cucuel then provides guidance and oversight to the senior management teams of the firm's Healthcare Portfolio companies from a board level. Robert Cucuel also has a proven record in implementing industry strategies, developing lucrative health companies, then offering them to third-party buyers.
In 2006, Mr. Cucuel founded his most recent venture, Critical Homecare Solutions, Inc. Critical Homecare Solutions was also one of the companies in the Kohlberg & Company Portfolio. Drawing on his extensive experience, Robert Cucuel led the company as Chief Executive Officer until early 2010. After four years of his direction, the company sold for more than $360 million. Another one of Robert Cucuel’s companies, which he founded and then led for four years as President and CEO, sold for well over $160 million in 2002.
After earning his BS in Accounting, Robert Cucuel began learning more about the nuances of health care businesses and marketing in the early 1980s. He rose through the ranks of American Hospital Supply, LLC from an entry-level position as Staff Accountant to Manager of the entire Hawaii and South Pacific Region. As Manager, Robert Cucuel orchestrated all aspects of customer services, sales, credit, operations, transportation, and distribution. In 1986, Robert Cucuel accepted a position as one of Frito-Lay’s Area Sales Operates Manager.
Taking charge of key markets in the company’s Northeastern Zone, Mr. Cucuel’s leadership extended throughout 12 states and he oversaw business operations worth $300 million. In 1987 Robert Cucuel earned an Operations Star Award for “Zone of the Year.” Throughout the 1990s, Robert Cucuel repeatedly demonstrated that he could raise the overall sales of a health care company. During Robert Cucuel’s first year as Area Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic for Home Nutritional Services, Inc., sales increased by almost 50 percent. During his time as Chief Operating Officer of Home Health Corporation of America, Inc., the business grew by 60 percent.
