Robert Gertler
With more than 20 years dedicated to the successful resolution of immigration and citizenship cases, Robert Gertler has provided individuals immigrating to Canada with security and stability during a stressful process. Through the years, Robert Gertler has earned a reputation for compassion towards clients seeking refuge or asylum, and he has gained invaluable experience navigating the various paths to Canadian citizenship. A proven litigator, Robert Gertler has appeared in numerous trials on behalf of his clients.
He now brings that experience to bear as a partner in his law firm, Gertler Etienne, LLP. Formed in 2009, the partnership brings the legal and trial expertise of Robert Gertler together with the public speaking and advocacy skills of Joel Etienne, a former radio and television broadcaster who has turned his energy towards the practice of immigration and regulatory law. Based in Toronto, Canada, the legal practice concentrates on Canadian immigration law, sponsorships, work visas, and litigation.
Robert Gertler helps the firm demonstrate the same attention to the needs of clients that initially established the firm as a sought-after immigration resource. Mr. Gertler provides pro bono work to address legal matters for people who have recently moved to the country. He also contributes his time and legal expertise as a volunteer speaker at seminars that cater to the needs of new Canadians. Understanding that immigration is more than a simple legal matter, he works with trade shows and community associations throughout Canada that assist recent arrivals in securing employment, helping them to provide for themselves and their families.
Robert Gertler earned his Bachelor of Laws at Canada’s Queen’s University, which he attended after earning a Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan. He was called to the Canadian Bar in 1992. Over the course of his legal career, he has served clients from Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
