Bob Muller
My overarching goal in life is "To understand." Toward that end, and combined with my love of thrills and Buddhist-like sense of compassion, I end up involved in many different pursuits. I am and/or have been a military aircraft mechanic, carpenter, kitchen and bath designer, municipal building inspector, historical researcher and lecturer, award-winning historic preservationist, author, blues/rock/rockabilly musician, freelance writer and photographer, birdwatcher, NY State licensed wildlife rehabilitator, SPCA cruelty investigator, bicyclist, motorcyclist, founding officer of two nonprofit groups and member of other nonprofit boards, and avid nonfiction reader (history, science, nature, government...). Although I generally reject the idea of labeling (because of its inherent limiting effect), I suppose one might best describe my philosophy of life as that of a nonsectarian Mahayana Buddhist freethinker. I also tend to be a bit anti-authoritarian. :-)
These days, most of my time is spent working two jobs, playing in two or three bands, songwriting, collecting guitars and basses, gardening, motorcycling, bicycling, reading, studying history, occasionally volunteering to give tours or speak at a local lighthouse, doing some freelance animal rescue, and spending time with my wonderful wife, my sister and elderly mother, and our rescued beagle, cats, and birds. I have several long-term book projects in the works and am hoping to find more time for photography. I am always open to new activities and areas of study, so feel free to share if you know something that will interest me.
