Round and round my stomach twirls, head spins, thoughts flow and nerves tingle as I step up to take my final kick of my soccer career, the last penalty kick in the State Championship. I think back on my soccer career and the 18 year journey that has influenced my life. What do I want to be remembered by and who do I want to become? Where do I go from here? I place the ball on the line, and take 4 steps back and focus on the ball. My surroundings go silent while my feelings go numb as I concentrate on the simplest shot of my life. Tweet! The referee’s whistle sends a shock through my body. Before I approach the ball, I stare at the goal and back at the ball and realize it’s time to go. I run up to the ball and plant my left foot, protruding the ground underneath, and I explode through the ball with my dominant right boot while my eyes focus on the sphere. The ball flies swiftly through the air with backspin. I notice the outline of each hexagon and pentagon on the ball and how each piece works together to make up the ball. This is much like my life. Everything I do in life is a piece of who I am. The colorful pieces are my experiences and how they have shaped who I have become so far, while the blank pieces are experiences I have yet to encounter and my goals. All the little pieces create my ideal world. The ball flies through the air past the goalie and ripples the back of the net. Before I know it, my team is on top of me in a huge dog pile. One dream of mine, one piece of my ideal sphere becomes colored as I complete one of my goals, a goal, a state championship.
I strive to create a full colored soccer ball in my lifetime, full of rich experiences that create the most complete person I can be. My life is described through my passions; soccer, travel, art, and family. I want to travel the world and experience life in other countries. I strive to be passionate in every aspect of my life and everything I try to do, because without the commitment, there is no satisfaction. In exuding all my effort in everything I do, I will not have regrets. My majors, business management and international affairs, directly relates to my passion of travel and gaining a more wholesome view of the world. My travels will hopefully open my eyes to the beauty and wonders that the world holds. My perfect world, my soccer ball, has yet to be colored fully, but everything I do in life will add a piece to me and who I am.
