Following this, Robert Hume San Diego moved to the Marshall Islands, where he was involved in dual projects under the US Corps of Engineers contract. In this capacity, his role encompassed environmental liaison and safety oversight in compliance with EM-385 standards. Upon his return to the United States, he played a crucial role in guiding safety initiatives in heavy civil engineering. His experiences at Kiewit Construction and Ames Construction, where he dealt with complex domains like active railroad construction, open pit/tunneling, and mining, were underpinned by his diverse safety certifications, providing invaluable expertise to these industries.

2004 marked a significant milestone in his career when he was awarded the AZ AGC Safety Professional of the Year. This accolade recognized his relentless hard work, accountability, and courage in managing challenging construction projects.
