I believe that when we come together as a country, we achieve great things. My father once told me to never give up, to never give in, and to always try no matter the odds. That will always stick with me. It will be a mantra that I will repeat to my kids and I hope they repeat to their kids.

I have a picture of Chicago as my background. A city that many of us hold close to our hearts. I believe that the mantra my father told me everyday before school is about as American as can be. Though we face challenges in Chicago, in Illinois, and here in this country, we won't give up, we won't give in, and we will continue to fight. I know this because whenever anyone tells us we won't, we rise above.
