Robert Morton is a Toronto-based executive with broad experience leading in the financial services industry. With more than two decades of industry experience, Robert is an accomplished leader in financial, strategic and general management and has spent extensive time serving on and interacting with boards.
Rob Morton currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of RFA Bank of Canada.
Robert graduated from the University of Waterloo in Ontario with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He earned his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation and was awarded the Canadian Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 2015. He has also earned the Chartered Director (C.Dir) and Audit Committee Certified (A.C.C.) designations from The Conference Board of Canada and the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.
Prior to his transition to RFA Bank of Canada, Robert spent 3 years with Home Capital Group Inc., where he most recently served as the firm’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. At Home Capital Group, he was responsible for all aspects of financial support, treasury, strategic and capital planning/development, procurement and investor relations for Home Capital and Home Trust.
Robert spent over two decades at State Street Bank in a series of progressive roles and most recently served as the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer at State Street Canada, as well as the Principal Officer of State Street Bank and Trust Company – Canada Branch and the President of State Street Fund Services Toronto Inc.
Having served on nine Canadian and global boards, including State Street and the Child Development Institute (CDI), an accredited children’s mental health agency in Toronto, and Director of New Hope Dwellings, Robert is a strong collaborator and negotiator who understands board governance.
Outside of his career, Robert is very active in the community. Over the years, he has been involved with Hockey Canada in the Advanced Coaching Program. He has also participated as president and board member of his local Minor Hockey Association.
In his leisure time, Robert enjoys his family, cycling, archery and keeping fit.
