Robert Oringer
Entrepreneur/Investor in Montreal, Québec, Canada
Born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island (yes, the Five Towns), 13 summers at Camp Echo Lake in the Adirondacks (real kitchen experience), entrepreneurial interests nurtured while in undergrad b-school in Philly, married Marla and moved to Montreal in '87 (wish I spoke French), joined Allan and Ben at AMG Medical in '89, co-founded CanAm Care in '90, son Cory arrived in '93, lived through Quebec referendum in '94, son Justin showed up in '96, sold CanAm Care to Inverness Medical in '98, Inverness diabetes assets sold to J&J in '01, bought back CanAm Care from J&J in '02, sold CanAm Care (again) to Perrigo in '12, most recently sold the diabetes assets of Locemia to Eli Lilly... now noodling ideas to build another disruptive diabetes company while enjoying yet another hockey season in Canada (certified backyard rink farmer).
Privately held diabetes (or healthcare) companies I'm currently actively involved with, advising, or rooting for:
AMG Medical, Locemia Solutions, Agamatrix, Bigfoot Biomedical, WellDoc, HelpAround, PatientsLikeMe, and Glysens
