Welcome to my page! I am currently in my third year of my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Guelph. When I am not at school, I enjoy horse riding and I am currently taking lessons here in Guelph every week. I have been riding consistently since I was ten years old, so it is something I cannot live without. Besides horse riding, I really enjoy travelling. I’ve been to the UK several times as I have family there. Since England is so close to Europe, when we visit family in the UK we tend to travel to other places as well. My biggest traveling endeavour was heading to Peru by myself during my gap year between high school and university. I volunteered at an orphanage in Cusco and explored the natural wonders within Peru; it was a very fun and rewarding experience.

The field of medicine and public health is what interests me the most within the many different science fields. Dr. James Orbinski, a Canadian humanitarian and physician, is someone who has inspired me a lot within this particular field. Reading his book, An Imperfect Offering: Humanitarian Action for the Twenty-First Century, opened my eyes into how global health is extremely important in solving many problems that arise all around the world. He also worked with MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières), a humanitarian group that provides medical assistance to those who need it the most. This has definitely created an interest into possibly doing this type of work in the future.

Dr. Orbinski sparked a specific career goal in which I have had for a few years now. This goal is to work for the World Health Organization (WHO), specializing in global health. Working at the WHO will give me the opportunity to help every individual reach the greatest level of health that is possible, no matter what situation they are in.

An interesting fact that most people might not know about me, is that I used to live in England. My mom is from England, and all of her side of the family lives there. When I was 7, my parents decided to move to West Yorkshire. There was no set plan on how long we were going to live there for, but we ended up staying for 3 years. It was an amazing experience living abroad whilst I was growing up; I was able to meet new, life-long friends and I definitely enjoyed all of the yummy food England has to offer.
