Personal Profile

After over 20 years of nursing, I feel ready for a change of direction.

Currently I am a volunteer working in St Cuthberts Hospice charity shop, where I am learning retail skills and business management.

I am unable to return to nursing at present, but feel I am able to offer a great deal of life experience and customer service. I am taking this opportunity to learn new skills and widen my career prospects

My skills as a nurse translate well into non-nursing roles as I have trained in coshh regulations, management, people and motivational skills, as well as being of a compassionate and caring nature.

I'm an honest, enthusiastic and hard working individual. I can communicate with a wide range of people and deal with them patiently and professionally. I'm flexible and am able to handle a wide variety of tasks.

2009-2012 Bondcare at Donwell House Nursing home, Washington UK

  • My duties varied within a general nursing criteria such as injections, dressings, personal care and intervention. Record keeping and organisation of staff duties. General tidying and cleaning.

2006-2008 Sunderland Eye Infirmary

  • Scrub nurse in theatre and outpatients clinics Preparation of sterile equipment,Supervision of staff , assisting the surgeon during operations. General cleaning of theatre and department.

2004-2006 Sunderland Royal hospital, Scrub nurse in Gynaecology and Orthopaedic theatres.

  • Duties included assisting the surgeon during various operations, organisation of operating lists and the planning of patient care before during and after operations. General cleaning of theatre and the department.

2001-2004. Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary.

  • Max fax and Eye theatres, where I did scrub and recovery, pre, peri and post op planning of care.

1998-2001. Newcastle General hospital.

  • Scrub and recovery nurse in Neurology theatres.

Hobbies and Interests

My interests are skin care and makeup, I have taken a number of courses for practical experience. I also enjoy card making and have taken weekly courses to improve presentation.
