Will Robertson

A keen snooker player and web developer, Will Robertson has played the ‘cello for twelve years. Beginning when eight years old under the guidance of Mary Cawood, Will was soon performing regularly. Most notably, he performed the Elgar Concerto and Kol Nidre with orchestras and gave many solo recital performances around the UK.
Aged sixteen, Will gained a place at Chetham’s Music School, Manchester, where he studied for two years with Nicholas Jones. His Chets career was rich with performance opportunities, appearing at the Royal Northern College of Music for a masterclasses and a quartet performance in the recent Beethoven Festival – part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations, the Manchester Cathedral, where he gave performances of the Saint-Saens and Lalo Concertos, as well as giving performances outside of Manchester, in Alderly Edge and Aberystwyth Music Festival amongst others.
Now in his second year at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under Felix Schmidt, Will has launched himself into the London scene freelancing with some incredible orchestras. Recent engagements have included the recording of the Australian tribute band Aussie-Floyd’s latest album at Abbey Road Studios, a Sondheim show: Into The Woods, and returning to the Aberystwyth Music Festival as part of the Orion Chamber Ensemble to perform works by Martinů and Britten. He is also very excited about multiple upcoming concerto performances including the much revered Dvorak Concerto.
