I've been working in the automation space for the past 20 years, with a keen interest in how to better leverage the value of datacenter hardware. The question I've been answering for those 20 years is really, "how can we make it easier to get a result out of all of this hardware!" The answer has always been to automate the process and provide simple but flexible interfaces for that. The "cloud" space is all of that with remote access added!

Now more than ever, figuring out how to leverage these new tools is even harder, if for no other reason than that there are so many choices for technologies, components, and how to actually use them!

I'm currently a founding partner at Kumulus Technologies, a San Francisco Bay area infrastructure focused Dev/Ops and Cloud Systems consultancy, where I write, present, develop, and educate on cloud and dev/ops topics.
