I started playing darts at a relatively late stage in life. My family moved to Peterborough, Ontario when I was 20 yrs old. My brother Ron played in a local league and taught me the basics. My very first set of darts were big and brass I was so happy I couldn’t wait to show them off. As I got a little better it was clear I needed to fine tune the darts a bit so I bought a set of Bottlesen. I still to this day use them they are weathered and worn but they suit me just fine.
My practice routine solely focuses on my finishes. With playing 01 most of the time I feel you have more opportunities to practice on scoring but you only get one shot at the double. You have to make it count !! I like to practice every day even if it is just once around the board on the doubles.
I am doing a lot of International travel playing anywhere I possibly can get to on a shoe string budget. You tend to learn quickly all the tricks to saving money from airfare to finding deals on accomodations.
Set goals for yourself-- attainable ones. You can always make new one's once you get there.
