Robin Augustine

Robin Augustine is a postdoctoral fellow working at Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Nanomaterials Science (Prof. Sosnik's group), Department of Materials Science and Engineering Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel . He received a bachelor’s degree in botany from the University of Calicut, Kerala, India and a Master’s degree in Bioengineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamilnadu, India. Recently, he has completed a Ph.D. from the International and Inter University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Mahatma Gandhi University (India) under the joint supervision of Profs. Sabu Thomas and Nandakumar Kalarikkal. His Ph.D project focused on the fabrication and characterization of electrospun polymeric wound coverage materials with antibacterial, angiogenic and wound healing properties. He joined the Prof. Sosnik’s group as a postdoctoral fellow in June 2015. His present research project involves the design and development of nano/microgel based mucoadhesive drug delivery systems for the effective delivery of nanoparticulate drugs in HIV. Robin has been also awarded a fellowship of the Council for Higher Education of Israel for the period October 2015-September 2018. He is invited to Institut Jean Lamour, Université de Lorraine, France to assist their multidisciplinary research groups which are trying to develop a novel vascular substitute material. He is experienced in developing smart biomaterials such as wound dressings, tissue engineering scaffolds, and suture materials. He has many publications in international journals, books and conference proceedings in his credit.
