Dr. Robin Augustine

Dr. Robin Augustine is an Associate Professor at St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, India, and a biomedical researcher specializing in biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and translational biomedical technologies. He has previously held research positions at Stanford University (USA), University of Massachusetts Lowell (USA), Qatar University (Qatar), and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Israel).
His research focuses on smart biomaterials, electrospun scaffolds, piezoelectric biomaterials, oxygen-generating biomaterials, microneedle-based therapeutics, diabetic wound healing, pancreatic islet transplantation, bone regeneration, and cardiac tissue engineering, with an emphasis on clinical translation. Dr. Augustine has authored over 75 peer-reviewed research articles, several book chapters and books, receiving more than 9,000 citations and achieving an h-index of 53. He has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University–Elsevier Rankings) and was ranked 76th globally in Biomedical Engineering by Elsevier–Scopus. His honors include the Outstanding Researcher Award from Qatar University, the Council for Higher Education (Israel) Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the SERB National Postdoctoral Fellowship (India). Dr. Augustine earned his Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from Mahatma Gandhi University, India, and continues to foster international collaborations in biomaterials and regenerative medicine research.
