Robin Kemp

New Orleans-born, newsroom-raised, and academe-hazed, Robin Kemp files dispatches from the intersection of book-smart and street-savvy. A veteran journalist (CNN) and award-winning environmental reporter (Gambit), Robin has written for trade, specialty, and literary magazines since 1986, collecting creative writing degrees and fiberglassing boats along the way.

Robin wrote the Pushcart Prize-nominated poetry collection This Pagan Heaven (Pecan Grove Press, 2009), and contributed to CNN Faces of Conflict CD-ROM (Graphix Zone/The Carter Center, 1995), Oxford Encyclopedia of American Literature, Greenwood Encyclopedia of American Poets and Poetry, Letters to the World (Red Hen, 2008), Able Muse Anthology(Able Muse, 2010), Maple Leaf Rag III (Portals, 2006), and A Howling in the Wires (Gallatin & Toulouse, 2010).

In 2010, Robin was awarded a graduate scholarship to study historic preservation in Cuba. She shot over 5000 photos like this one in Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Camguey, Santiago de Cuba, and places in between.

Robin is based in Atlanta but packs light. Contact her for your next feature or hard news assignment.
