Rob John
Researcher and Independent Consultant in Cambridgeshire, UK
I'm an independent philanthropy researcher and consultant based in Cambridge, England.
Over six years I researched philanthropy in Asia as a visiting fellow at NUS Business School in Singapore - exploring innovations in philanthropy, including giving circles, angel investing for impact and new models of corporate giving.
Before this I helped build two philanthropy networks from scratch - EVPA in Europe and AVPN in Asia. I taught and wrote about venture philanthropy when a visiting fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford's Said Business School.
After spending 15 years in international development and microcredit, mostly in refugee communities, I managed an Oxford-based venture philanthropy fund. And if you go back far enough you'll find an academic research chemist who studied or worked at the universities of Bristol, Oxford, Purdue, Lausanne and Addis Ababa.
I'm a Global Advisor to SVhk.
