Robert Carr has been a character animator and graphic designer for over eleven years. From the time he was young, he was fascinated by art, space, creative gadgets, drawing, and painting. As a young man growing up in California, Robert was surrounded by neighbors who worked in the film industry. This exposure sparked his interests in animation and media. It was the movie Toy Story, however, that transformed and inspired Robert and set him on his lifelong journey and passion in life: animation.
As a graduate of the renowned Academy of Art University, Robert was able to academically pursue his passion through studying computer arts and 3D character animation. His first job out of school was with Prototypes Plus, Inc., where Robert had his first opportunity working with 3D computer designs and helped the company to fulfill their mission of turning product “ideas into 3D forms that can be touched, held, and manipulated.” Robert has designed brochures, websites, billboards, and a plethora of other marketing materials.
Throughout his career, Robert has been recognized by his superiors and colleagues as an expert in creature animation. He has worked for various design and animation companies including ICD Media, Cartoon Network, Xaviant, and Kaneva LLC. His experience ranges from electronic media advertising to social networking. Some of his greatest professional achievements include integrating Time Warner, TBS, TNT, and Family Guy into the virtual world, integrating and creating Kaneva’s first face rig with full controls, developing Kaneva’s CA-ching first person shooter with full controls, and animating Kaneva’s Dance Dance Revolution (DDR).
In addition to these accolades, Robert worked at Xaviant where he first learned and operated the Crytek engine, as well as animated the characters for the upcoming Lichdom game. As a part of the combat team, he created animations and combat designs for Artificial Intelligence and the first-person players. Robert was entrusted to the Research and Development team, where he made recommendations regarding optimal technology and software for the company to invest in for their products. He also utilized the Moven Suit to capture and reconfigure hundreds of motion captured data pieces.
Today, Robert is a freelance animator and graphic designer. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he is also a father of two and enjoys life as a dad.
