SUMO BATTLES AT OUR ROBOT CAMP. JOIN THE FUN!!
The robot can be autonomous or controlled with joysticks via remote control. In the impending futuristic world, robots and other synthetic forms scuffle in the technology-laden arena while audiences cheer them on and make wagers on the outcome of fights. Sure, machines are being damaged, but robot battles may be no more controversial than monster truck rallies. Even if the equipment is intelligent, they might still have their memories backed up so that demolition of the intelligence doesn’t mean demise. We do try to limit a completely unfair advantage. We encourage sportsmanship and safety and we do not want to annihilate an opponent’s construction. Blocking devices, intended to flood the opponent’s sensors, are prohibited. Parts that could break or damage the ring are prohibited. Players must not use parts that are intended to permanently mutilate the adversary’s robot. Gluey substances to improve traction are not allowed. Tires and other components of the robot in contact with the arena must not be able to pick up adhere to objects on the playing surface. Modes of the “real” world must be at all times accurate. Devices that can store dangerous substances for throwing at rivals are prohibited. Any fiery devices are prohibited. Devices that throw things at your opponent are not allowed. Our focus is on the static world. Perception, modeling, and planning are computationally intensive. Normal shoves and knocks are not considered intentional attempts to destroy. Join us and join the fun!!
