Robyn Eckhardt

Malaysia-based Robyn Eckhardt writes on food and travel for is a Contributing Writer at Travel+Leisure Southeast Asia and ZesterDaily.com. She also writes for the New York Times Travel Section, Saveur, Travel+Leisure, Food & Wine and Australia's SBS Feast magazine. She is a contributor to the forthcoming Oxford Companion to Sweets.

Since mid-2005 Robyn has co-published, with photographer David Hagerman, the award-winning food blog EatingAsia. The two also collaborate on a Turkish road food-focused tumblr called Eating Turkey. Their first book, a lushly illustrated cookbook on the cuisines of Istanbul and eastern Turkey, will be published in 2016 by Rux Martin Books/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Few know Asian street food as Robyn does -- she's been eating it around the region for over 17 years. Robyn writes a twice-monthly column on Asian street food for Wall Street Journal. In 2011 Travel+Leisure named her a Top Culinary Guide for her private street food "un-tours" in UNESCO world heritage site George Town, Penang.

When not at home in George Town, Penang, where she and David live in a refurbished 19th-century shop house, Robyn can most often be found driving, eating, marketing and cooking along the back roads of eastern Turkey.
