Robyn Barnes

My love for photography started as a teenager growing up in San Francisco. I must admit that it was difficult to not be artistically inspired when I was surrounded by such a beautiful and captivating place. The city was my muse and led me to my passion of photography. After moving to Sacramento and finishing high school I decided to pursue a BA degree in photography at Sac. State University. While attending the university I became very involved with photography for the school newspaper; it was there that I earned the nickname "The Camera Girl" and decided I would take that name with me into my career. After graduating, I had the opportunity to work for two creditable photography companies who allowed me to continue my journey and expand my horizons in the photography field. While I was thankful for the experience that I gained from these companies, I knew that I had not yet reached my artistic destination. After noticing that my passion was not completely fulfilled, I made the decision to quit working for companies and fully dedicate myself to being a freelance photographer. While this decision was a bit intimidating, it has been the most rewarding decision I have ever made. I have now had the freedom to further my skills and truly uncover my zeal for the art of photography.

Throughout this journey I have continued to discover myself and where my passions in photography lie. These passions include: abstract, portrait, wildlife, and travel photography. A particular project of mine that was extremely inspirational to me was one where I photographed the human body in such a way that tricked the eye and made one work to recognize what part of the body it was that was being captured. Through this project I found a love for portraying mystery and ambiguity through photographs.

"The Camera Girl's" journey as a photographer continues and I would be honored to have you join me on this voyage. I am available for on-location or in-studio photo shoots.
