Robyn Saling

ROBYN SALING, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, gabbegroup Robyn oversees comprehensive media relations programs across several clients including The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, The Institute for Health Technology Studies (InHealth), Objet and Covenant House New York and has contributed her efforts to the firm’s work on behalf Consumer Reports Medical Guide, Johnson & Johnson and others. Robyn was a major contributor to implementing MD Anderson’s international public relations program, most notably through securing and managing a series of exclusive briefings for U.S.-based foreign journalists at the State Department’s Foreign Press Center in New York City; and work with international media in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia as well as Africa and the Middle East. She has continued to lead similar high-level media briefing engagements for clients including MD Anderson’s first International Media Day which drew seven journalists from Germany, Italy, Japan and Taiwan. More recently, Robyn spearheaded InHealth’s first press briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The event, which launched findings on the FDA’s medical device approval process by researchers at Northwestern University, drew 25 attendees and resulted in more than 35 unique media stories. Prior to joining gabbegroup in 2003, Robyn held a position at the New York City Department of City Planning where she was the press secretary and director of public affairs. Robyn advanced through a series of positions – and two mayoral administrations. A press secretary only a month before September 11th occurred, she was called upon to assist in organizing a joint city government information center to manage press inquiries and responses during the rescue and recovery effort. Robyn is a graduate of State University of New York at Binghamton and holds an M.S. in urban planning from Pratt Institute. She is also a registered yoga teacher specializing in the Hatha and Vinyasa styles through the National Yoga Alliance.
