Rochelle Alleyne

Hello! My name is Rochelle Alleyne and I am a junior at the University of Florida--double-majoring in Telecommunications (Specializing in News) and Political Science (Specializing in International Relations). For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for Journalism. In fact, as a kid I used to report and give little newscasts to my stuffed animals. My passion for politics was ignited when I took an introductory international relations course during my first semester at the University of Florida. So majoring in both of these fields just makes sense.

Currently I am working as an intern for CNN Newsroom in Atlanta, GA. As an intern I have been able to write, produce, and generate content to be used on CNN's air. In doing so, i have also been able to strengthen my skills in writing, reporting, producing, and editing. During both the fall and spring semesters I work as reporter and producer for Florida's 89.1 WUFT-FM--a NPR North Central, FL affiliate radio station at the University of Florida. Here, I am able hone my skills in writing, interviewing, reporting, audio editing, hosting, and preparing content for our online presence at wuft.org. And as an intern for the Gainesville Television Network (GTN), I shadow a reporter for the day and have been able to work on my interviewing, filming, reporting, and writing skills for content that will be used in a television broadcast. I am also a contributing reporter, producer and anchor for the bi-monthly "Zion Buzz" Webcast which is created by various members of the UF Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (or the Gator NABJ).

Ultimately, I hope to work as either a News Reporter/Anchor for a Major News Outlet or as a News Correspondent in Washington D.C.

Thanks for reading! Go Gators!
