Rochelle Culbreath

Rochelle Griffin Culbreath was born and raised in Norristown, PA. Rochelle is married to Brian Culbreath for 12 years and is the proud mother of Brianna Riley, age 9. Rochelle hails from a long lineage of Norristonians and was raised by her maternal grandparents who were proud public servants for the betterment of Norristown. Influenced by her grandmother who was a popular school teacher at Gotwals Elementary and her grandfather who was only the third African American police officer on the Norristown Police Force, Rochelle has carried on the family mantle of being a vocal and tireless advocate for her community. Rochelle received her BA in Sociology from Temple University and has earned paralegal credentials from the Main Line Paralegal Institute. Currently she serves as Coordinator of Constituent Relations/ Legislative Affairs in the Public and Government Affairs Division for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
Rochelle is the Former President of the Norristown Municipal Council serving for a 7 year term from 2000-2007. In addition to her contributions to the Norristown Council, Rochelle has served in leadership positions for the Agape Improvement Development Corp -Norristown, the Norristown Homeowners Association Board, and the Macedonia Community Development Corporation. Presently, she serves on the Board of the Norristown Preservation Society. Rochelle is best known for the creation of a campaign called Save Our Hospital in 2005 designed to fight to keep Montgomery Hospital open in Norristown. She has been on the front lines of several other community initiatives' working with The Food Trust to help bring better access to fresh healthy foods to the municipality of Norristown and its residents. She has received awards from the following organizations, the Elks Lodge Norristown, Norristown Alliance of Black Educators, the Women of Vision Award given by Montgomery County and the NAACP Community Service Award.
Today, you can find her working hard in the community on issues related to Anti-Social Youth Behavior and Youth Violence. She is currently the Norristown Weed & Seed Chairwoman. She has been lauded for creating community collaborations and bridging gaps between stakeholders that hold the key to the future of Norristown.
