Rocio Del Real

Hello, I am Rocio Del Real-Carrillo. I am currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I will be receiving my bachelors in Elementary education.

I strongly believe every single one of us has a purpose in life and my purpose is to be an educator. I was reassured of this upon receiving the Golden Apple Scholarship in 2009. Thus far, it has been such an enriching experience both academically as well as personally. Through Golden Apple I have had the opportunity to work with children from various schools around the Chicago area. I have also had the privilege to attend seminars and spend my summers with other scholars who share the same vision as I do.

I am a Latina dreaming of the day when I will be called Ms. Del Real. I was born and raised in Chicago but I have lived in a very authentic Mexican household. As a product of CPS I am thrilled to return and give back to the schools that need it the most. I will do my best to build a relationship with each of my students and their families, which I believe is the base for a good learning environment. Every student deserves a chance, every student can learn!
