ART AND DESIGN TEACHING
Direct, Honest, Excessive,
Art and Design have always been at the forefront of business, but now in the digital age, its now become the Gods of business.
Business as I knew it has been changed beyond human belief and comprehension, and that's just the beginning. I trained in the 1980s in Art and Design and studied Graphic Design in London against a backdrop of the 1980s a time of revolution within Music, Art, Fashion, a time that had a profound effect on me, and ultimately made me whom I am today. I graduated in Graphic Design winning the world famous Designers and Art Directors Award. I beat some 3500 graduates in 1985
My approach to art and design is like everything else in my life, direct, honest and excessive. Direct is simple, uncomplicated design by openness and acknowledgment of one's own character, which is, in fact, is a human-made corporate identity which defies and makes us the unique designers that we are.
Decisions are rarely neutral by nature, they have been hardcoded, influenced by the external life and our experience of it, the same goes for art and design. The trick is to open the toy box of experiences, good and bad, and turn them into a tangible concept of design.
Honest. In a world driven by TV ads, the constant barrage of buying me, buy into me, it's hard hanging on to the true Honest ME! ME, or being true to the originally born mold, which there really is only one of is hard. The uniqueness of being true, true to yourself, is perhaps, an oversold statement but none the less, one of the most important to be good, if not great, in the business of design. The one thing I have never participate in, which has cost me at times, is selling me or my talent short! Believe me, some things are not for sale
