Rocsi Diaz
Rocsi Diaz shapes the urban music scene as co-host of 106 & Park and host of Rocsi on the Radio, her new syndicated show broadcast from BET's studios in New York. As Rocsi herself has said, "Hip-hop is in my blood." Rocsi was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and raised in New Orleans. Drawing on her hometown's rich musical heritage, she developed a love of music at an early age. She entered the entertainment business as a radio host for 97.9 The Beat in Dallas, where she displayed a distinctive hosting style. Later, Rocsi moved to Boston to work for Hot 97.7. She subsequently relocated to Chicago, where she made her mark at Power 92, the city's premier urban radio station. Rocsi became known as the "The Midday Mami" for her role as midday DJ. Starting in April 2011, Rocsi launched a four-hour program with Westwood One radio. Rocsi on the Radio airs Monday through Friday and includes a mix of urban music, interviews, and interactive segments. For instance, "Roc the Mic" invites the audience to call in with questions and requests for advice. Rocsi's celebrity-friendly style and hip-hop knowledge have earned her a high degree of respect from the artistic community. Rocsi has interviewed some of the most prominent names in the industry, including Jadakiss, Big Sean, Ludacris, Lil Wayne, and Baby. Recent guests have included Birdman and DJ Khaled, promoting his new album, We the Best. Along with her work in radio and television, Rocsi engages in charity work with the Rocstar Foundation, an organization she founded to help rebuild schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
