I am a bioscientist/biohacker. Most of my research has centred on insects and microbes. I work as a senior lecturer in infection biology at Lancaster University in NW England. I am currently running a lab that researches the disease leishmaniasis and the sand flies that spread the disease. Much of this work is centred on Brazil.
I teach microbiology and tropical diseases. I am interested in introducing arts and creative approaches into teaching microbiology (putting the A in STEM to give STEAM).
I also work with artists, makers, hackers on biological subjects, I believe that the science lab should also be an artist studio and that joint collaborations bring new perspectives and interests for both.
